Please proceed to the quiz questions.

Step 1

Review the Key Factors:

  • Active Cancer or Under Treatment
  • 100% rating is assigned when:
  • Prostate cancer is active or being treated (e.g., radiation, hormone therapy, chemotherapy).
  • This rating continues for at least 6 months after completion of treatment.

After 6 months, the VA will schedule a mandatory re-examination to evaluate for residuals.

This quiz is only for the residuals effects.

To receive VA compensation for prostate cancer, veterans generally need to prove one of the following:

  • Direct Service Connection
  • Evidence that the cancer began in service or is linked to an in-service event (rare).
  • Presumptive Service Connection
  • Prostate cancer is presumed service-connected if:
  • You served in Vietnam, Thailand (certain locations), or Blue Water Navy during the Vietnam War and were exposed to Agent Orange.
  • You served in areas with confirmed herbicide exposure (e.g., Korea DMZ 1967–1971).
  • You were exposed to contaminated water at Camp Lejeune (1953–1987) for at least 30 days.

If you have active prostate cancer, please contact your VA office as you may qualify for temporary 100%.
