- Constipation
- Alternating diarrhea and constipation

- Mild cramping or bloating → lower rating
- Near-constant or severe cramping, pain, or discomfort → higher rating

- Interferes with work (e.g., missed days, need for flexible schedule)
- Affects quality of life (e.g., fear of leaving home, needing to stay near a bathroom)
- Requires ongoing treatment or medication
